Ponce Inlet & New Smyrna

29.08204, -80.92378

Ponce Inlet and New Smyrna, located on Florida's northeast coast, provide some of the best conditions for advanced kiteboarders.Known for powerful north winds, clean waves, and consistent swell, this area offers an epic location for kiteboarding, but it’s best suited for riders with experience.Warning: This is not a beginner location or for the faint of heart. New Smyrna is one of the most popular surf breaks in Florida. While Florida surfers are generally some of the nicest you can meet, riding in locations like this comes with a certain responsibility and level of respect for the locals. Not only is this a popular surf break, but you’re also never more than a few feet from a shark at any given moment. This is known as the shark bite capitol of the world. For advanced wave riders and kitesurfers who know the rules of navigation, have ample respect for wildlife and know how to avoid surfers, this is home to some of the best waves in Florida! With all that said, if you are interested in kitesurfing here, you won’t be disappointed with the conditions if you time it right. There are two beaches to choose from here and they both can be fun but come with some challenges and due respect.

Hightower Satellite Beach Kiteboarding

28.194309, -80.594105

South of Cocoa Beach, you'll find lots of hidden gem surf and kitesurf beaches. We get more north winds during the prime Florida windy season than anything else. The further south you go from Cocoa, the cleaner the wind on the ocean will get. One epic spot worth visiting is Hightower in Satellite Beach. This is not the most beginner-friendly beach, and we don't recommend beginners ride here for many reasons. The launch here is smaller, and there are some rocks in the water. If the waves are good, there can be a lot of surfers. However, when the wind kicks up in the cooler months, you'll likely have the Beach to yourself with respectable waves for kitesurfing. The waves are not always big here, and those days are great for intermediate riders looking for a convenient location with amenities and easy parking in the area with the smooth wind. This is one of many small breaks in the area worth checking out, and we'll cover everything you need to know before kitesurfing here.

Tables Sattelite Beach

28.267334, -80.605140.

Satellite Beach, located just south of Cocoa Beach, is a hidden gem for kitesurfers. If you enjoy wave riding, less crowded beaches, and steady winds, Tables Beach should be at the top of your Florida kiteboarding destinations. Tables Beach is a smaller sandy beach near the Air Force / Space Force base on the space coast. We love it because you can escape the crowds of Cocoa Beach and find smoother winds.

There is a public restroom and beach shower located near the parking lot. Although the parking lot is smaller, it caters to fewer visitors, making it ideal for kitesurfers who want a quiet, private session. If you're looking to ride in the waves without the hassle of crowded beaches, Tables Beach is the place to be.This is still a surf town, so there can be surfers from time to time, but the beach here is huge, so you can always walk or drive to another pull-off to find a private wake break

A1A Sattelite Beach

28.242502, -80.601103

Satellite Beach is an epic spot for kiteboarders who want to escape the busy beaches and find their slice of the coast along the A1A. With plenty of pull-offs and wide-open spaces, it's perfect for riders looking to score smooth north winds and ride some fun waves without the crowds you'll see in places like Cocoa Beach. What's cool about this stretch of beach is how the conditions can switch things up. When the water's calm, it's an awesome place for beginner kiteboarders who've finished their lessons and are feeling confident enough to hit the waves on their own. But the real magic happens when the swell picks up and the waves turn on. The chop and open ocean, in general, can be challenging for beginners, so if you're new to the sport, you should head over to the 520 Slick in Cocoa Beach for flat, shallow water that's super beginner-friendly.

Blockhouse Beach

28.25741, -80.60401

Blockhouse Beach, located along the scenic A1A in Melbourne Beach, is one of many easy locations for kitesurfers looking for a more peaceful and less crowded location.Just south of busy Cocoa Beach, this spot is perfect for those who want to avoid the busy tourist hubs and prefer a serene beach with consistent winds.Blockhouse Beach offers a small parking area, but with fewer visitors than nearby beaches like Tables Beach or Cocoa Beach, it’s ideal for a quiet solo or small group session. The combination of smaller crowds and steady winds makes it a must-visit for intermediate to advanced riders looking to enjoy the waters of the Florida Space Coast.

Playa Linda Beach

28.655524, -80.631721

Playa Linda is a pristine stretch of beach located inside the Cape Canaveral National Seashore. Known for its natural beauty and excellent wave conditions, it’s a favorite for both surfers and kiteboarders. This federally protected beach offers a serene escape from the crowds of Cocoa Beach while delivering some of the best wave action in the area. Popular with Titusville locals, Playa Linda offers a more laid-back vibe compared to other well-known spots. With its multiple sandbars, the waves are ever-changing, making it an exciting location for experienced riders.
If you are visiting Cocoa Beach, this location is a short drive north and well worth it on a north wind. The main beaches in Cocoa can get gusty with north winds thanks to the shape of the coast. Generally, locals will only ride the beach when there is a good amount of east in the wind. You can, however, get an amazing wave session here with smoother side shore winds. Heads up: This is a popular surf spot. Always be respectful and give surfers the right of way. There is plenty of coast here to chase waves and we have the advantage with the kite.

Sebastian Inlet Park

27.85178, -80.44913

Monster Hole at Sebastian Inlet is one of Florida's most famous (and infamous) surf spots, known for its powerful waves, strong currents, and the prime waves it offers to advanced kiteboarders and surfers alike. This is one of the best breaks in Florida but It’s also the most Sharkey and busy beaches. While it's an epic location for kitesurfing, this spot is primarily a surf break, so it's crucial for kiteboarders to give surfers the right of way on the waves. This spot requires respect for both the ocean and the surf community that has been riding here for decades. For the advanced rider, this spot can be incredible, but it’s not the most beginner-friendly guide. Check out our kitesurfing travel guide to learn about more beginner-friendly locations.

Fort Pierce Jetty Park

27.471039, -80.288192

Fort Pierce Jetty Park is a very popular kiteboarding and wingsurfing beach along Florida's east coast. Unlike St Petersburg, Florida, and the gold side, there are only a few flat water spots on the East Coast. This is one of the best and has some incredible off-the-water attractions. There is a beautiful walkway along the channel, nice waterfront restaurants, and a scenic little downtown area where you can grab a beer or a meal after your session. The parking lot is always a vibe with a nice little park and grass area to stage wingsurf gear. You can expect to meet lots of warm and welcoming kiters and wingers hanging out in vans and drinking coffee or chatting about conditions.
Whether you're chasing waves or seeking flat water or foil boarding, this park has something for all of us, wind junkies. Located near the Fort Pierce Inlet, there is also an epic park to the north of the Jetty where you can find hiking, camping, and more flat water for the springtime south winds. If you want to escape the crowds, the North Side of the Jetty has the perfect quiet vibe.
