Satellite Beach, located just south of Cocoa Beach, is a hidden gem for kitesurfers. If you enjoy wave riding, less crowded beaches, and steady winds, Tables Beach should be at the top of your Florida kiteboarding destinations.

Tables Beach is a smaller sandy beach near the Air Force / Space Force base on the space coast. We love it because you can escape the crowds of Cocoa Beach and find smoother winds.

There is a public restroom and beach shower located near the parking lot. Although the parking lot is smaller, it caters to fewer visitors, making it ideal for kitesurfers who want a quiet, private session.

If you're looking to ride in the waves without the hassle of crowded beaches, Tables Beach is the place to be.This is still a surf town, so there can be surfers from time to time, but the beach here is huge, so you can always walk or drive to another pull-off to find a private wake break

Tables Beach is a fantastic spot for wave riders or twin tip riders who prefer a quieter, more serene environment.

The beach here has a small parking lot, but it rarely fills up due to fewer visitors compared to more popular locations like Hightower Beach.

This means more space for you to set up and enjoy your session. The launch site is a sandy beach with small sand dunes obscuring the view from the road.

There is ample space to set up your kite and few obstructions on the reasonably big beach, which can get cramped at high tide.

Being so far from the main tourist beaches, a private launch area is usually just a short walk down the beach.

During the Florida windy season, especially in winter, north winds are the most common. This direction accounts for for about 80 % of the windy days. Satellite Beach, including Tables Beach, offers smoother and cleaner winds on the north than locations further north, such as Cocoa Beach.

The smooth wind here makes it a prime spot for central Florida kiteboarders closer to the East Coast.

The only time we recommend avoiding this spot is during prime spring break. All the beaches on this coast get full, and there is little to no parking.

We also encourage you to give surfers the right of way. This is a surf town, and from time to time, there will be surfers here. There is plenty of beach to share, so give them the right of way.

Side & Side On: Tables Beach is well-suited for side-shore or side-on winds coming from the North, Northeast, Southeast, and east.

Due to its geographic positioning, the beach benefits from cleaner north winds, making it a superior choice for winter riding compared to locations further north.

Onshore: East winds are generally fun for more advanced riders. The beach is smaller, and onshore winds can create challenging conditions, especially if there is a big shore break.

However, beginner and intermediate riders may find the conditions enjoyable on days with small waves and lighter east winds.

The golden rule is that you must be able to ride upwind even when the current is taking some of the power out of the wind.

Offshore: Avoid riding in offshore conditions here (W, SW, NW), as the wind will take you out to sea, which can be dangerous.

We never recommend riding offshore ocean winds. Only very experienced riders should consider offshore winds, and even then, caution is advised due to their gusty nature and other dangers, like the potential to lose your gear or swim back in for a long time.

Sideoff: If you're an expert wave rider, you might consider riding a slight side-off wind here for clean waves. Just be ready to self-rescue and swim back in if necessary. Remember, you are always taking a chance to do this.

To reach Tables Beach, head down A1A in Satellite Beach. You'll find a small parking lot adjacent to the beach, providing easy access.

Unlike other locations like Hightower Beach, the smaller parking area means fewer beachgoers, allowing for a more relaxed and uncrowded kitesurfing experience.

Note that large vehicles like RVs will not fit here. You can find a larger parking lot further south down the road near the Tides restaurant.

You'll find more beach access here, showers, and rest rooms. The ocean conditions at Tables Beach can vary, but on a strong north wind or with a sizable swell, expect some intense wave action.

 It's important to be aware of rip currents and shifting sandbars, which can create unpredictable conditions.

Check the surf report and assess the conditions before heading out. Use common sense and err on the side of caution.

Kitesurfing Access: Tables Beach is a prime location for wave riders who enjoy smaller, more intimate beaches.

The waves here align nicely with a north wind, providing excellent opportunities for wave riding.

The smaller crowds mean you'll have more room to maneuver and enjoy the surf.

Kitefoil Access: Kitefoilers will love the deeper waters and fewer obstacles compared to other beaches.

However, as always, watch for submerged rocks and other hazards close to shore.

Foiling here can be rewarding on smaller days when the swell is more manageable.

Wing Surfing: Tables Beach can be a suitable spot for wing foiling, particularly for advanced riders looking to catch waves.

Beginners may want to consider other locations with more forgiving conditions.

Watch for side shore winds with no swell. High tide is a great time to give it a go.

Tables Beach is not typically recommended for beginners due to the potential hazards of open ocean riding.

This spot is better suited for intermediate to advanced riders who are comfortable navigating waves and managing tricky conditions.

Unlike other more crowded beaches, the limited parking here means fewer people, giving kitesurfers and wingfoilers more room to enjoy their session.

However, it's crucial to remain vigilant about the conditions and to respect the local surfers and beachgoers who also frequent this spot
