Race Bar Line Lengths

So the big talk is always about line lengths. In the foil scene it use to be known to go with long lines in order to stretch the limits of using the smallest kite possible. Well that’s true for free ride, but in racing, shorter is better. Most of the time racers are trying to put up the largest kite possible without being over powered which is much easier with short line so you can spill some of its power during the gusts. We suggest starting at 21 meter line lengths and then to progress to shorter as you progress. Your ultimate goal is to successfully tac and jibe with 15 meter lines or less. This video will help you understand why. Lots of pros and cons to shortening but you’ll see what it’s all about during your next big race day.
