What Types of Kite Repairs Do We Offer?

Your kiteboarding gear takes a beating—whether it’s a crash in shallow water, a failed self-rescue, or just the wear and tear from years of epic sessions. Instead of replacing your gear at full price, professional repairs can save you hundreds while keeping your kite or wing performing like new.

At Elite Watersports, we specialize in everything from minor canopy rips to full bladder replacements. Here’s what we can fix:

Canopy Repairs – Fixing Rips, Tears & Worn Stitching

Your kite’s canopy is built to take a beating, but it’s also the most vulnerable part of your setup. A small tear might not seem like a big deal at first, but one strong gust can turn it into a massive rip. If you’ve noticed pinholes, fraying seams, or a large canopy tear from a crash, it’s time to get it repaired before it spreads.

Common canopy issues we fix:
✔️ Small tears and pinholes from crashes or snags
✔️ Large rips caused by high winds or reef landings
✔️ Frayed seams and worn stitching from years of UV exposure
✔️ Leading edge and strut fabric damage

Aaron’s Take:
"A tiny canopy tear can get worse fast. Don’t wait—fix it now and extend the life of your kite."

If you’re wondering…

  • Can I sew my kite canopy myself? It’s possible, but if you want a long-lasting repair that won’t fail mid-session, professional repairs are the way to go.
  • Is my kite still safe to ride with a small rip? If you catch it early, yes—but once the wind gets inside that tear, it can rip further in seconds.

Canopy Repairs – Fixing Rips, Tears & Worn Stitching

Nothing ruins a session faster than a kite that won’t hold air. Whether you’ve got a slow leak that’s driving you crazy or a full-on bladder blowout, we’ve got the tools to get your kite back in action.

What we can fix:
✔️ Slow leaks that deflate your kite mid-session
✔️ Full bladder replacements if the damage is severe
✔️ Leading edge and strut bladder punctures
✔️ Seam blowouts and pinhole leaks

Aaron’s Take:
"A slow leak might seem like a small problem, but it can leave you stranded mid-session if it gets worse. If your kite isn’t holding air, let’s fix it before it ruins your next session."

Common questions we get:

  • How do I find a slow leak in my kite bladder? A soap and water test can help spot tiny leaks, but we can also pressure-test your bladder to find and repair leaks fast.
  • Should I replace or repair my kite bladder? Most leaks are repairable, but if your bladder has multiple punctures or a seam failure, a replacement might be the better option.

Leading Edge & Strut Repairs – Reinforce Your Kite’s Backbone

Your kite’s leading edge and struts are what keep it inflated and holding its shape, but one hard crash, improper packing, or even just wear over time can cause leaks or damage. If you’ve noticed a soft leading edge, struts deflating, or air escaping from seams, it’s time to get it checked before you end up with a kite that won’t fly.

Common leading edge & strut issues we fix:
✔️ Punctures from crashes or sharp objects
✔️ Seam blowouts that cause slow leaks
✔️ Struts deflating even when the main bladder is holding air
✔️ Bent or warped structure from improper inflation

Aaron’s Take:
"If your kite’s leading edge or struts are going soft during your session, don’t ignore it. A slow leak today can turn into a full blowout next time you pump up."

If you’re wondering…

  • How do I know if my leading edge has a leak? If it feels soft after just 20–30 minutes on the water, there’s a good chance you’ve got a small puncture or a seam leak.
  • Can I fix a slow leak myself? Some riders try DIY bladder patches, but professional sealing and pressure testing will give you a longer-lasting, reliable repair.

Control Bar & Line Repairs – Keep Your Setup Dialed In

A snapped line or worn-out control bar can ruin your session—or worse, put you in a dangerous situation. Your lines take constant wear from UV exposure, salty water, and regular riding, so keeping them in top shape is essential. If your bar feels off or your lines look frayed, it’s better to replace them before they fail mid-session.

Common control bar & line issues we fix:
✔️ Frayed or stretched lines that affect kite contro
l✔️ Snapped safety lines that compromise your release system
✔️ Worn-out depower ropes or bar grips
✔️ Line tuning for uneven or stretched lines

Aaron’s Tip:

"Your control bar is the only thing standing between you and your kite—don’t let worn-out lines or safety components put you at risk."

Common concerns from riders:

  • How do I know if my kite lines need replacing? If your lines look frayed, stretched, or uneven, it’s time to replace or tune them.
  • Can I just replace one line, or do I need a full set? Sometimes a single-line replacement is enough, but if your lines are old or stretched unevenly, a full replacement will give you better control.

Wind Wing Repairs – Keep Your Wing Flying Like New

Wing foiling has exploded in popularity, but a damaged wing can leave you stranded just as fast as a broken kite. If your wing has a torn canopy, a leaking bladder, or delaminating seams, a professional repair can save you hundreds compared to buying a new one.

Common wind wing issues we fix:

✔️ Canopy tears from crashes or reef landings
✔️ Bladder leaks and seam failures
✔️ Handle or leading edge damage
✔️ Worn stitching or panel separation

Aaron’s Take:

"Since 2019, we’ve been repairing wind wings for riders all over Florida. The good news? Most wing damage is fixable, and a professional repair will keep you riding without breaking the bank."

Questions we hear all the time:

  • Can I fix a wind wing bladder myself? Small leaks can be patched, but if your bladder has multiple leaks or seam separation, professional sealing will keep it airtight longer.
  • Is my wing still safe to ride with a canopy tear? If the tear is small and not spreading, it might be fine for a session—but larger rips or worn stitching should be repaired ASAP to prevent total failure.

Why Repair Instead of Replace?

Not sure if your kite, bar, or wing is worth fixing? Here’s how to decide:

Small damage? Fix it. – A canopy tear, a slow leak, or a frayed line are all cheap, quick fixes that extend the life of your gear.

Still rides great? Repairing is smarter. – If your kite or wing flies well but has minor damage, a professional repair will keep you on the water for years to come.

Total wreck? Time for new gear. – If your kite has multiple massive rips, a destroyed leading edge, or years of UV damage, replacing it might be the best move.

Aaron’s Advice:
"A $50-$150 repair can add years to your kite’s life. If you're unsure, bring it in—we’ll tell you straight if it's worth fixing or if it’s time for a new setup."
