Kiteboarding Jetty Park, Fort Pierce, Florida.

Fort Pierce Jetty Park is a very popular kiteboarding and wingsurfing beach along Florida's east coast. Unlike St Petersburg, Florida, and the gold side, there are only a few flat water spots on the East Coast.

This is one of the best and has some incredible off-the-water attractions. There is a beautiful walkway along the channel, nice waterfront restaurants, and a scenic little downtown area where you can grab a beer or a meal after your session.

The parking lot is always a vibe with a nice little park and grass area to stage wingsurf gear. You can expect to meet lots of warm and welcoming kiters and wingers hanging out in vans and drinking coffee or chatting about conditions.

Whether you're chasing waves or seeking flat water or foil boarding, this park has something for all of us, wind junkies.

Located near the Fort Pierce Inlet, there is also an epic park to the north of the Jetty where you can find hiking, camping, and more flat water for the springtime south winds. If you want to escape the crowds, the North Side of the Jetty has the perfect quiet vibe.

Why Fort Pierce, Jetty Park , Florida, is great for kitesurfing.

Fort Pierce Jetty Park is the perfect destination for kiteboarders who crave variety. On a north wind, the water south of the pier becomes butter flat, ideal for kiteboarders and wingsurfers looking for smooth conditions to practice freestyle or foil.

Two flat water spots: If the wind turns south, the north side of the pier delivers epic waves for kite surfers; depending on the angle, it can be flat here, too. The water depth here will vary with the tide, so you can expect it to be too deep to well overhead.

Prime beginner waves: Downwind from the pier, the waves here come at the perfect angle to work as kickers. Wingsurfers love to sail out in the flatwater and downwind into the waves for prime wingsurf conditions.

Ample Parking: The park's large parking area is a huge advantage. Unlike other crowded beaches, Fort Pierce Jetty Park has ample parking both next to the jetty and along the nearby channel. You won't have to worry about searching for a spot, and there's plenty of overflow parking if the lot fills up.

Overside Parking: There is great oversized parking for RVs if the main lot fills up.

More than riding: The main beach area is well-kept, with a boardwalk and plenty of places to eat, making it a great destination for a full day of adventure. The beach is popular but large enough that you'll have more space to spread out, set up your gear, and enjoy the water.

Best Wind Directions for Kiteboarding Tables, Satelite Beach, Florida

N, NE, E, S, SE

Side & Side-On: Fort Pierce Jetty Park is prime with side-shore and side-on winds, especially from the north, northeast, and southeast. These directions create optimal conditions for kitesurfers, particularly with the butter-flat water on a north wind.

Most of the prime winter season here will be north winds, but in the spring, you will see some southern winds.

The North Jetty: A south wind delivers great waves north of the pier, giving wave riders a chance to thrive. You will have to drive a long way around to get to the other side of the jetty and pay to park in the park there.

The Northside is less convenient, but the nature there is incredible and worth the trip with or without wind.

Onshore: East winds are excellent for experienced wave riders. The waves roll in along the south side of the jetty, and the shore break can be challenging yet rewarding.

Not for Beginners: It's an excellent direction for advanced riders to test their wave-riding skills. Onshore here is difficult and is not recommended for inexperienced riders.

Offshore: Avoid riding in offshore conditions (W, SW, NW) at Fort Pierce Jetty Park. The wind can be gusty and dangerous, pushing you out to sea. Only highly experienced riders should consider offshore winds here, and even then, it's too risky.

What to expect when kitesurfing at Fort Pierce, Florida

Fort Pierce Jetty Park has one of the best setups for kiteboarders on Florida's east coast. Whether you're looking for flat water or surf, the jetty offers options for both.

Facilities: The park is well-maintained, with plenty of parking, restrooms, and nearby amenities, including a boardwalk and picnic areas. It's a great location for a day trip with family or friends.

Small town vibes: The small public park and small beach town vibe is enchanting and worth visiting wind or no wind.

Conditions: The ocean conditions here vary significantly depending on the wind. On a strong north wind, you can expect smooth, glassy water that's perfect for freestyle tricks or beginners getting into foilboarding.

The more easterly, the more the waves will fire close to the Jetty. You can expect waves to form several hundred yards downwind of the pier regardless of the wind direction.

On south winds, the north side of the pier delivers solid, surfable waves and sometimes flat water. This will depend on a few factors, including the angle of the wind.

This makes Fort Pierce Jetty Park a great kiteboarding spot and a top choice for those looking to extend their stay and enjoy more time on the water.

Kitesurfing Access: Fort Pierce Jetty Park's diverse wind conditions cater to a variety of kiteboarders. Wave riders will find themselves at home while foil boarders can enjoy flat water by the pier or waves downwind. The pier is the highlight of this beach and is worth the drive if you're nearby.

Wing Surfing: Wing surfers will find Fort Pierce Jetty Park an excellent spot, particularly on a north wind. The flat water provides smooth conditions for practicing transitions, jibes, and other skills. The deep water access with little to no shore break is necessary for new riders.

Kitefoil: This is the perfect depth for kitefoilers of all levels. Flat water to learn and waves to shred downwind.
