Self Launch or Drift Launch?

When do you self launch and when do you drift launch. Well it depends on the beach, scenario and what your most comfortable with. It is in my own opinion that a drift launch is safer, less wear on equipment and can be done in most locations. A self launch has its advantages and purpose. Many time the edge of the beach is too deep or even the waves may be breaking close to shore. If the wind is straight onshore then drift launching is impossible unless you are able to walk out far from the beach. At least double the line length is a good golden rule of thumb.
