Blockhouse Beach, located along the scenic A1A in Melbourne Beach, is one of many easy locations for kitesurfers looking for a more peaceful and less crowded location.

Just south of busy Cocoa Beach, this spot is perfect for those who want to avoid the busy tourist hubs and prefer a serene beach with consistent winds.

Blockhouse Beach offers a small parking area, but with fewer visitors than nearby beaches like Tables Beach or Cocoa Beach, it’s ideal for a quiet solo or small group session.

The combination of smaller crowds and steady winds makes it a must-visit for intermediate to advanced riders looking to enjoy the waters of the Florida Space Coast.

Blockhouse Beach is an excellent spot for wave riding, with a peaceful atmosphere and a wide sandy beach. While parking is limited, it often serves as a benefit by keeping the number of beachgoers to a minimum, providing plenty of space for setting up and launching your kite.

The beach itself has small dunes, offering a picturesque background to your kiteboarding session. Note that the beach can get very small at high tide. Always check the conditions before you set up as landing can be a challange on this coast at times.

This spot is ideal for intermediate and advanced riders due to its wave action and occasional strong currents. For those looking to escape more crowded spots, Blockhouse Beach is a great alternative with fewer beachgoers and surfers.

During Florida's windy season, especially from fall through winter, the beach benefits from clean, strong north winds, making it a fantastic destination for wave riders.

We've mentioned before this whole city is perfect to set up a downwinder. This is one of many pull offs from Cocoa Beach to south Melbourne beach.

NE, N, NW, SE, E: These are the optimal wind directions for Blockhouse Beach. Side-shore and side-onshore winds from the north and northeast provide smoother, more predictable wind conditions.

This makes for an epic  kiteboarding experience, especially for wave riders looking to catch clean waves.

North winds do work here to. It's far better here than in Cocoa Beach but the further south you go the smoother a North wind gets here. You can also drive north to Playa Linda Beach for smooth North Winds. 

Onshore Winds: East winds can also be fun for experienced riders, but they often bring larger shore breaks, making it more challenging for less experienced kiteboarders. • Offshore Winds (W, SW): Like most Florida beaches, riding in offshore winds at Blockhouse Beach is not recommended. Offshore conditions can be dangerous, as they pull you away from shore, making it difficult to return safely.

Blockhouse Beach is easily accessible from the A1A, with a small parking lot located near the beach.

While the parking may be limited, this usually ensures a quieter session with fewer people on the beach.

The conditions at Blockhouse can vary, but during the winter months, riders can expect moderate to strong waves, with occasional rip currents.

The waves here can peel nicely with the right wind direction, providing ideal conditions for wave-riding kitesurfers. If you're looking for a more relaxed, yet challenging experience, Blockhouse Beach is perfect.

Due to the strong currents and waves, this beach is best suited for intermediate and advanced riders. However, if the waves are smaller, experienced beginners might enjoy a session here with proper guidance.

Kitefoil Access: For kitefoilers, Blockhouse Beach’s deeper waters offer good conditions on less windy days, but be cautious of submerged sandbars and rip currents.

Wing Foiling: Wing foilers can also take advantage of this spot, especially on days with lighter winds and smaller waves.

The beach's deeper waters make it a good location for foiling, but again, caution should be taken in stronger currents.

Big waves: The waves can get big here so ride with situational and self-awareness. Offshore Winds: Never kite in offshore winds unless you’re an expert.

Busy Beaches: This is a popular Tourist Area in the summer and spring break.. 

Shore Break and Rip Currents: Be mindful of the conditions. There can be strong shore breaks and rip currents. Always assess the surf and wind conditions before heading out, and don’t kite in waves that are beyond your skill level.
