Tampa Bay is perfect for kitesurfing for many reasons. For one, we have so many kiteboarding locations. Because of this, we can ride and teach in any wind direction. This is rare and unique to only a handful of places in the world. Large sandbars keep our water calm and the water is shallow. This makes learning and teaching here one of the easiest locations.

What do I learn in a kiteboarding lesson? 

Every lesson is focused on you and where you’re at in your kiteboarding journey. Our team will work with you to build a personalized plan and lesson for the day. Whether you’re new or looking for some advanced lessons we have you covered.

We offer kiteboarding lessons mainly at Skyway Beach in St. Petersburg. We can also teach in Sarasota, Clearwater, Tarpon Springs, or Dunedin. All our kiteboarding lessons are one-on-one unless you schedule a group lesson. It's always fun to bring a friend! 

How long does it take to learn to kitesurf? 

Everyone is different and learns at a different pace. Our lessons focus on having fun and getting you on the fast track to riding. Generally, people will book three to nine hours of lessons depending on their needs. Some keep coming back for more advanced kite lessons. We have many returning students who enjoy jet ski support and world-class coaching from our passionate team.

Many schools teach in the ocean. That can pose challenges from deep water to waves. Our kitesurfing lesson center in Tampa Bay is located in one of the most forgiving spots in Florida. That means you’ll learn faster here and have a safer experience. 

Our main lesson location is Skyway Beach in St Petersburg. We can teach in any wind direction here. With kitesurfing equipment being so refined these days, we can teach in a wide variety of wind conditions as well. 

Where to kitesurf in Tampa Bay

Skyway Beach East is our favorite. We teach on the east side when the wind is blowing north east, east and south east. There is a large sandbar here that we use for lessons, a freeride area and a foiling or wind wing area.

There is plenty of parking and space to kiteboard. Be aware the water gets deep south of this location. 

On a North West, West or South West wind, we teach at Skyway Beach West. The water here is also shallow. You can kite out past the channel and find lots of open space and more shallow water to kite. 

What if I don’t want a kitesurfing lesson? Can I rent kiteboarding gear?
