FLITELab AMPJet S 4'8" — Foil Assist Built Into the Board

The FLITELab AMPJet S 4'8" is the most versatile board in Fliteboard's AMP lineup and the smartest foil assist system on the water right now. Instead of bolting a motor pod to your mast, the AMPJet jet cartridge slides into a sealed cavity inside the tail of the board — centered directly over the lift of your front wing. The result is 25 kg (55 lb) of instant thrust on demand with zero added drag below the waterline, and a board that still rides like a pure, unpowered carbon prone foil board once you are flying.

One setup, three disciplines: prone foil surfing, wing foiling, and downwind foiling. Press the button, get up, then ride clean. Pull the cartridge out, drop in the foam blank, and it becomes a featherweight unassisted foil board with nothing hanging off your mast.

Why the 4'8" Is the One to Buy

The AMP_S range comes in 4'2" (27L), 4'6" (32L), and 4'8" (40L). At 40 liters and 20 inches wide, the 4'8" is the largest and by far the most forgiving of the three. That extra volume and width is what makes it a genuine do-everything board:

• Easiest knee starts and paddle-ups of the S range — a real advantage when you are learning assisted foiling.
• Wide enough to wing and parawing, not just prone, so one board covers light-wind wing days and swell missions.
• Works for riders up to a heavier weight range where the 4'2" and 4'6" get demanding.
• Still a performance prone shape — the S outline is a surf shape, not a mid-length, so it carves and pumps properly once on foil.

How the AMPJet Actually Works

• Boost mode: roughly 5 seconds of full thrust at the press of a button — enough to punch into waves you could never paddle into, or to get up on flat water off a bump.
• Paddle Assist mode: about 60 seconds of low power to push you back out to the lineup without burning your arms.
• Auto cutoff: the jet shuts off when you lift onto foil, so you stop wasting battery the instant you are flying.
• Roughly 40 combined boosts and assists on two AMPCells — about a 2-hour session for most riders.
• Swap in seconds: pop the batteries for a fresh set, or pull the whole cartridge and fit the foam blank for unpowered riding.

AMPJet vs. Mast-Mounted Foil Assist

This is the real reason riders move to the AMP system. A traditional assist unit clamps a motor pod and battery to your mast, adding drag every second you ride, powered or not. The AMPJet lives inside the board:

• No drag penalty once you are on foil — nothing protruding into the water flow.
• Minimal swing weight because the mass sits over the front wing's pivot point, so the board stays agile.
• Your foil stays yours — run any mast and wing setup you like underneath.
• Nothing to rig on the beach: no straps, cables, or pods to mount before every session.

Battery safety: every AMPCell includes an advanced battery monitoring system, phase-change material for thermal headroom, a humidity sensor to detect seal failure, and a sight glass for visual moisture inspection. Airline rules vary — confirm with your carrier before flying.
