Florida is a kitesurfer's dream, with miles of coast, bays, lagoons, rivers, and perfect conditions. The east coast is lush with sandy beaches, waves, and surfer vibes, but it can also be intimidating for beginner kiteboarders.

There is one beach that offers easier conditions and the same vibes. Imagine a stunning park with a well-maintained campground, abundant wildlife, Semi-Flat water, and accessible wave conditions for kite foil, wing foil, and kiteboarding.

Jetty Park in Cocoa Beach has a sandy, clean beach that offers plenty of space to launch and land your kite, along with beach showers, restrooms, and shady areas to relax.

The sand here is hard-packed and shallow, keeping the waves small, uniform, and fun. It's perfect for learning more advanced big air or freestyle kiteboarding tricks, and the shallow depth makes walking out or back in easy.

This accessible spot offers consistent, mild conditions, perfect for kiteboarding, kite foiling, and wing surfing, with gentle waves and ample depth further out.Jetty Park stands out for its accessibility and beginner-friendly conditions.

While it's essential to stay mindful of ocean safety and respectful of beachgoers, this spot is an unbeatable choice for kitesurfing in Cocoa Beach. There are a few things to know before you go, and we'll cover everything in this blog.

Imagine a scenic park with a well-maintained campground, wildlife, boardwalks along the beach, and a jetty with cruise ships departing regularly. The beach is sandy and clean, with a decent space to launch and land your kite.

There are beach showers, restrooms, and shady areas to relax. The conditions here are more forgiving than many spots along the Atlantic coast. The Jetty provides flatter waters and smaller waves.

 The water stays relatively shallow here and is hard-packed for a good way out. You can find ample space and semi-flat water between the smaller waves here. Among all the ocean spots in Florida, this is one of the most beginner-friendly.

Shallower waters and small waves make a huge difference. The only concern is that the beach and water can get crowded on weekends and nice beach days. If you are a new kiteboarder, stay downwind and give beachgoers the right of way.

The waves here are small but fun. You can learn to kitesurf small forgiving waves here or use them as kickers in the right wind direction. The water stays shallow for a reasonable distance, and the bottom is all hard-pack sand.

This is one of the few ocean spots where walking out is possible. Use common sense, as it does still get deep after a point.

Side & Side On: The best wind here is side on. North winds are too gusty and slightly offshore. It's possible to ride but not recommended. Look for a north wind with some east in it for clean, smooth wind.

Onshore: East winds here are rideable, but only for more intermediate kiteboarders. This is a popular beach for tourists and sometimes fishermen. You need to be able to ride upwind in waves and chop. Otherwise, you'll end up back on the shore or, worse, drop your kite into a crowd.

Offshore: Never ride a west wind here. It will be gusty and push you out to sea. Advanced wave riders sometimes ride a side-off wind to get clean waves.

This is not recommended for beginners and is reserved for experts who are willing to take the chance to swim back in dangerous conditions.

Most kitesurfers prefer Satellite Beach for the waves and smooth winds. You can drive there on a north wind for significantly better conditions. Be mindful that this is also a small beach with many beachgoers.

Take the A1A through Cocoa Beach until you reach George King Boulevard. You'll drive past the cruise ship docking area to the campground entrance.

Be sure to book your day pass online and have the ticket ready on your phone. Otherwise, they will make you circle around the gate and return with the pass.

You'll take the road past the campground to the main parking area. There is an overflow lot to the right for large vehicles and RVs and a regular parking lot to the left. Between the lot and the beach, there is a nice forest area with a boardwalk, restrooms, showers, and stairs.

The conditions will vary, and this is still the ocean. Some days will be mellow and relaxed with easy waves. On other days, there might be bigger waves and lots of chop or currents. However, you can expect this to have the smallest waves in the area. If you're looking for an easy accessible beach for kiteboarding and kitesurfing, this is the best option in Cocoa Beach.

Kitesurfing Acess: The waves here are forgiving and perfect for learning how to surf with a kite. They usually don't have much power and size, so you can perfect the basics in a low concentre environment.

Kitefoil Acess: You will have to walk out about 150 feet to the chest-deep water, but this is a good place for kite foiling. Expect smoother conditions, mild chop, and ample depth, which is a good way out. This is the easiest ocean spot to learn how to kite foil in Cocoa Beach.

Wing Surfing: The easy conditions here make wingfoiling easier, but you do have to walk out to the deeper waters. The waves are small and perfect for beginner wing surfers looking to work on their wave skills in a low-power environment. If you want bigger waves, we recommend heading south to 16th Street or Satellite Beach for advanced conditions.

Jetty Park is safe, but this is still the ocean. Always show respect to large bodies of water and use common sense.

The water here stays shallow for a way out but eventually gets deep. The waves are generally smaller here, but they can get big, and sometimes there can be strong rip currents.

This is a popular beach, and it can get crowded. Always give swimmers, fishermen, and the general public the right of way. Kitesurfing here is a privilege, not a right. Be smart, safe, and respectful.

Never kite out further than you are willing or able to swim back in. The conditions here are forgiving, but once you are in deep waters, it can take a while to get back in due to unpredictable currents, etc.

Don't kite next to the Jetty. Taking advantage of the flat water here might be tempting, but there are too many people on this beach. You will need to ride further south, away from the wall and the swimmers. The beach here stays relatively flat and still has a vibe.

You must purchase a day pass in advance to use this beach. The area has many free beaches, but none are quite as forgiving as Jetty Park.
